Project Overview: Scott County commissioned Brauer & Associates, Ltd. to prepare a master plan for a regional park in one of the fastest growing counties in the state. The park is 300 acres with an additional 50 acres of land acquisition anticipated. The park offers a diversity of ecological habitats, ranging from unique maple basswood forests to wetland prairies. The park is bordered by both Prior and Spring Lakes, as well as a large City of Prior Lake Athletic Complex. The master plan process was completed in 2006. Key Objectives of the Master Plan Included: • Protect the park’s natural character through careful placement of the built features. • Provide education and interpretive programming opportunities for all age groups. • Provide regionally-based recreation facilities to serve a rapidly expanding regional population center. Recreational amenities in the park master plan include a large 4-season pavilion, a multi-use facility, a network of paved and natural trails, an outdoor classroom, observation points, fishing opportunities, a group camp area, and a series of picnicking areas that accommodate a variety of group sizes.
