In most communities, neighborhood parks remain the basic unit of the park system and serve as the recreational and social focus of the neighborhood. Typically, they are developed for both active and passive recreation activities geared specifically for those living within the limited service area. Accommodating a wide range of age and user groups is important where feasible. Creating a sense of place by bringing together the unique character of a site with that of the surrounding neighborhood is vital to a successful design. Mini parks offer similar park amenities to neighborhood parks but are used sparingly to address isolated or unique park needs. Brauer & Associates recognizes the importance of neighborhood parks and recognize that these parks are often the primary park available to children and adults in a given neighborhood. The following selected project highlight a few of the firm’s recent experiences in the design of neighborhood and mini parks. |
