George Watson, President, Sr. Principal

 

George Watson has been a practicing professional in parks, recreation, and public open space planning and design since 1976.  During his career he has worked on literally hundreds of projects - ranging from small vest-pocket parks and plaza’s to large state and federally funded public facilities. 

George’s experience gained from his involvement in a multitude of system planning efforts as reflected in our project portfolio makes him well suited to the challenges of this project.

George is also recognized as a creative and imaginative planner and designer with unique skills unmatched in the field of planning and design.  His experience and ability to look at a site and program from different perspectives allows him to find unique and interesting solutions to any problem.

Projects ranging from athletic complexes, like the Fort Snelling Athletic Complex, to unique natural resource based park, like Quarry Park and Nature Preserve, illustrate George’s range of design abilities.  In addition, he is also recognized for his technical abilities as they relate to facility development, thus ensuring that what is designed can also be built. 

As past interim director of recreation for the City of Richfield, George has overseen numerous planning and design projects and represented park interests with the expansion of the international airport.  He is also involved in local park related organizations, most recently as a Three Rivers Park District Commissioner, where he was involved in overseeing the development and operation of one of the foremost regional park systems in the country.
