Jeff Schoenbauer, Senior Consultant to Brauer & Associates, Ltd.

 

As a registered landscape architect, Jeff Schoenbauer has over 25 years experience with public land use planning and design projects. Through his experience working with the public, municipal staffs, city councils, planning commissions, park boards, and developers in various forums, he has developed a capacity for defining issues, understanding their implications, and resolving them through consensus building and teamwork. He enjoys the public process and considers it fundamental to the success of all public projects. Jeff also has a strong ability to work with allied professionals in developing creative solutions for complex projects across a full spectrum of the firm's work, often times involving professional in a multitude of technical disciplines.

 

His experience gained from literally hundreds of projects over his career makes him well suited to the challenges of any project. In the last ten years, Jeff has been project manager for over a dozen park, recreation, open space, and trail system planning projects of varying complexity. Also, he has managed the master planning process of numerous major regional parks in this region.

 

In more recent years, Jeff has been working aggressively with the development community on behalf of local municipalities to maximize the public values of privately-owned parcels of land slated for development. The community-based conservation development process Jeff developed has proven to be a very useful tool in creating a higher level of public parks, natural open space, and trail opportunities within private developments than would be achievable under standard development planning practices.

 

Jeff has also gained a reputation as an innovator always looking for new possibilities and striving for ways to maximize the value of public projects large and small. With literally hundreds of community meetings behind him, he is very comfortable with facilitating the public process and sees it as being the critical avenue for building a lasting rapport between citizens and stakeholders.

 

Jeff is a co-author of the 1995 revision of the NRPA's National Park, Recreation, Open Space, and Greenway Guidelines. Jeff is also a strong advocate for public parks and commits time to the MRPA and NRPA for a variety of causes, including chairing education sessions at several NRPA conferences.
