Project Overview:

Brauer & Associates, Ltd. was selected in late 1997 to work with the community to develop a 37 acre community park-youth athletic complex to serve the growing park needs in the southern half of the city. With funding secured through a successful park referendum, the Brauer team was brought in to define and balance the needs of the youth athletic associations, residents south of Highway 212, and the adjacent neighborhood. An extensive public process was initiated to gain public input, establish a rapport and common vision with the community, and ultimately gain consensus on the design for the park.  The project was completed  in 2000.

 

Important design challenges included :

• Control of storm water runoff

• Avoiding disruption of a major gas pipeline traversing the site

• Minimizing impacts to adjacent residential properties

• Maintaining the integrity of an adjacent neighborhood park
